Frequently Asked Questions

Questions. Let’s be real, we all have them. So I have answers to some of the most frequently asked hair questions,

Do I have to talk when i’m at my hair appointment?

not at all. Please know and trust that when you walk into my space you have the option to spend the time you are paying for as you please. if you want to come in and chat the whole time: great. if you come in and want complete silence: great. if you come in and want to scroll on your phone, read a book or close your eyes: also great. you get to choose! and i’m here for all of it.

Should I come to my hair appointment with clean hair?

You ‘honestly don’t have to. Before a haircut I always wash your hair. and if you are extra greasy or have any particular build up i will wash your hair more than once and may even do a scalp scrub. Depending on your needs. and if you are coming in for color, unless you have extreme build up, you don’t have to wash your hair.

do i have to tip?

nope. as the saying goes tips are appreciated never expected. but it’s true. I’m always so incredibly grateful for the extra cash on top of the service but by no means do you have to nor do you have to feel guilty if you don’t.

why do most salons charge for the service + color?

stylists usually charge for their labor + product. think of when you go to a mechanic to get your car fixed. you are usually charged for labor plus the part. it’s the same for us. i use a salon scale that calculates what your product cost will be so you don’t get undercharged and more importantly overcharged by me guessing every time i mix up your initial color and extra color if needed.

Do you blow out the hair after a haircut?

absolutely i do! always! unless you specify otherwise. finishing is very important to me. i want you to walk out with a complete style. but if you absolutely have to skip it for any reason, while it is hard for me to not do it, i completely understand and will honor your wishes!

is there a difference between a trim and a haircut?

no, i hate to break it to you but they are the same thing. if you are booking a full service haircut even though you are only getting an inch off you have to pay for the time service you scheduled. the only time it may result in a different price is if you came in purely wanting the bottom only trimmed and no bells and whistles. (shampoo, customized shape and style) and that would be based on less time needed to do that specific service.

why is getting your hair done so expensive?

is it expensive or is it not in your budget? you have to really figure out what category you fall in when it comes to paying for anything especially a service. Stylist have to consider thier time, education, expertise, taxes, expenses, ect… believe it or not, costs have gone up on our end and we have to make sure we are compensated so that we can continue to do our job. otherwise, if we undercharge we are losing out significantly and could cost us the ability to continue to run our business aka do your hair.
